Operational History

Dec 41: billeted in Dvor on the Una River.
24 May 42: Partisans attacked 2d Co. in its garrison in Divuša near Dvor, wounding several including the company commander.
Jun 42: participated in Operation “West-Bosnien.” After the operation concluded in August, the Battalion was transferred from Dvor to Livno/113 km west of Sarajevo.
1 Dec 42: Bn. HQ in Livno with 1st Co. – 4th Co.; estimated strength: 1,000.
15 Dec 42: Livno taken by the 2d Proletarian Assault Division NOVJ after a 10-day struggle. The key town was defended by the VII Ustasha Bn., one other battalion from the V Ustasha Brigade, one company of Domobrans and a company of local militia. According to the Partisans, the defenders were “completely smashed.”
8-9 Feb 43: took part in a successful clearing operation in the Posušje – Imotski area against elements of the severely depleted 2d Proletarian Assault Division NOVJ. After this operation, the Battalion remained in Imotski/45 km south of Livno until August 1943.
Mar 43 – Jan 44: there is no direct mention of the Battalion during this period, although it is known to have been in the Imotski – Livno area under V Ustasha Brigade.
6 Feb 44: transferred from the Imotski – Livno area to Koprivnica/NE of Zagreb with V Ustasha Brigade.
7-11 Feb 44: participated in Operation “Dubrovnik 2” under V Ustasha Brigade.
Aug 44: renamed II Bn./V Ustasha Brigade at the end of August or beginning of September.
