Formed late summer or early fall 1941, probably in Brčko, where it was located in November and December with approximately 550 men. (1)

2 Apr 42: Battalion elements reportedly engaged against Partisan forces near Pakrac in Slovenia.
9 Apr 42: entire Battalion ordered to transfer from Brčko to Sarajevo this date for assignment to the 1st Ustasha Regiment. Total strength on transfer was 5 officers, 11 NCOs, 575 men and 128 recruits.
8 Jul 42: Sarajevo area.
1 Dec 42: in Bratunac on the Drina River/83 km NE of Sarajevo with Bn. HQ, HQ Co. and 1st – 4th Co.
14 Apr 43: Sokolac/31 km ENE of Sarajevo with elements in Vlasenica/55 km NE of Sarajevo. Composition unchanged from December.
Aug 43: now in Drinjača/74 km NE of Sarajevo.
Oct – Dec 43: movement and activity of the Battalion becomes unclear from this point forward. It appears to have been reassigned to the new VI Ustasha Brigade and transferred to Livno/113 km due west of Sarajevo where it was said to be located on 31 December 1943. At the beginning of 1944 it is believed to have been renamed I Bn./VI Ustasha Brigade.
