The schwere Panzer-Kompanie Hummel was formed in July 1944 at Paderborn. After being issued with Tiger I tanks from Panzer-Ersatz-Abteilung 500 it was sent to Arnhem in September and in November it was near Aachen. On 18 December it became the fourth company of schwere Panzer-Abteilung 506.
