It existed in black, bronze, silver and gold.
A total of 15 different clasps existed to this medal, four for the different branches of the military and eleven for the different areas of the front:

Kenttäarmeija (Army)
Rannikkopuolustus (Coastal Forces)
Kotijoukot (Home Guard)
Kainuu
Koivisto
Laatokan-Karjala
Pohjois-Karjala
