SS-Obersturmführer Yngve Nordborg was born on 2 October, 1887 in Timrå. He was a member of the Svensk Socialistisk Samling (SSS). He worked for the german propaganda radio in Köningsberg before he volunteered for the Waffen-SS. His reason for joining the Waffen-SS was probably that he had been outmanouvred in the internal power struggle within the german propaganda organisation. Nordborg served kriegsberichter (war correspondent) on the Eastern front and was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross.

He was in Berlin during the battle of Berlin but did not take part in the fighting. He claimed to have witnessed the marriage between Adolf Hitler & Eva Braun and later the cremation of their bodies (this is however denied by SS-Stubaf. Otto Günsche and SS-Stubaf. Johannes Göhler, adjutants to Hitler and Hermann Fegelein respectively). According to some sources he also was a member of the Werwolf.
