The SS-Sturmbann N (N was for Nürnberg, Nuremberg) (also SS-Bataillon N) was formed in October 1936 around a cadre from SS-Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler and SS-Standarte Deutschland. It took part in the annexation of Austria as a part of SS-Standarte Deutschland.
It was converted into a motorcycle battalion in November 1938 and was redesignated SS-Kradschützen-Bataillon N.
