The Reichswehr-Brigade 9 Schwerin of the Vorläufige Reichswehr was formed in June 1919 from the Freikorps units Freiwilligen 17. Infanterie-Division and Freikorps Schwarze Jäger.

It merged with Reichswehr-Brigade 37 and Reichswehr-Brigade 40 in October 1919 into Reichswehr-Brigade 9 of the Übergangsheer.

It was used to form 2. Division in October 1920.
