Hauptmann Otto "Otsch" Bertram was a holder of the Knight's Cross and ace with 22 enemy aircraft shot down, of those nine were from his service in Legion Condor during the Spanish Civil War, who was ordered to withdraw from front line service in October 1940 after both his brothers had been killed in action.

In the present day Luftwaffe, the honour title Richthofen lives on with Jagdgeschwader 71 Richthofen.
