The 272. Volksgrenadier-Division was formed in September 1944 from the partially formed 575. Volksgrenadier-Division. It fought on the Western Front, seeing action in the Huertgen Forest, the Bulge and the Roer River. It was destroyed in the Ruhr pocket in April 1945.
