The 362. Infanterie-Division surrendered was formed in Italy in November 1943 from the staff of the disbanded 268. Infanterie-Division with manpower from 305. Infanterie-Division, 44. Infanterie-Division and 76. Infanterie-Division.
It absorbed the 92. Infanterie-Division in June 1944, gaining the Grenadier-Regiments 1059 and 1060 and the Panzerjäger-Abteilung 192, at the same time the Grenadier-Regiments 954 and 955 were disbanded.
It surrendered to the US forces in April 1945.
