The Division Nr. 190 was formed in June 1940 in Hamburg. It was called up as Einsatz-Division Nr. 190 on 18 September 1944 under the code word “Alarm Küste” for action in the Netherlands in response to Operation Market-Garden, the Allied airborne landings there. It was redesignated 190. Infanterie-Division on 4 November 1944.
