The XXXIX Panzerkorps was formed from XXXIX Armeekorps in July 1942. It fought at Cholm and in the withdrawal to Smolensk. It suffered heavy losses in the encirclement at Minsk and later withdrew through Kurland and East Prussia. It fought at the Ardennes and ended the war on the Elbe.
