The Sturmgrupe Granit (Granite) was the assault group that famously captured the Belgian Eben-Emael fort on 10 May 1940 led by Oberleutnant Rudolf Witzig. It was 86 men strong and was carried in 11 gliders organized as below:

Three other assault groups were formed within Sturmabteilung Koch for this operation:
Sturmgruppe Eisen (Iron), commanded by Leutnant Martin Schaechter, was given the task of capturing and holding the Kannes bridge. 90 men and 10 gliders.
Sturmgruppe Stahl (Steel), commanded by Oberleutnant Gustav Altmann, was given the task of capturing and holding the Veltwezelt bridge. 92 men and 9 gliders.
Sturmgruppe Beton (Concrete), commanded by Oberleutnant Gerhard Schacht, was given the task of capturing and holding the Vrkenhoven bridge. 96 men and 10 gliders.
