Lentorykmentti 2 (Flying Regiment 2) was formed from Lentoasema 1 (Flying Station 1) on 1 January 1938. The regiment operated into the post-war period, until all flying regiments were disbanded on 1 December 1952. Most of them were formed into air commands (lennosto), but not Lentorykmentti 2.

Lentorykmentti 2 was the original of the two Finnish fighter flying regiments. The other one was Lentorykmentti 3.
