Formed August 1942 in the Bihać area by renaming the II Lika Ustasha Battalion. (1)

Operational History

1 Oct 42: Bn. HQ with 1st to 4th Co. deployed between Bosanska Krupa and Bihać.
1 Dec 42: now in Glina in the Kordun and probably refitting; still there on 16 December.
17-26 Dec 42: departed Glina, moved through Vrhovine/17 km E of Otočac, and by 26 December was located in Ličko Lešće.
20 Jan – 14 Feb 43: billeted in villages in the Lovinac – Udbina area - secured roads and then cleared the surrounding mountains together with Italian forces during Operation “Weiss”.
1 Apr 43: in Lovinac/29 km SE of Gospić.
31 Jul 43: operating in the Gospić – Perušić area.
16 Oct 43: Gospić – Perušić area in a total strength of 7 officers and 693 men.
14 Dec 43: in Gospić.
5 Jan 44: cleared the Medak – Lovinac road together with XXXI Ustasha Bn. to assist the movement of German 114. Jäger-Div., which was being transferred from the Gračac area to Italy. The operation resulted in heavy fighting and losses on both sides.
21 Jan 44: moved to Baške Oštarije/20 km WSW of Gospić on conclusion of the operation.
8 Apr 44: back in the Gospić area.
29 Jun 44: Bn. HQ with 1st – 4th Co. in Široka Kula/12 km NE of Gospić.
1 Aug 44: now in Bunić/32 km NE of Gospić.
16-31 Aug 44: moved to Lički Osik and Perušić with an estimated 500 men on strength.
Nov 44: Gospić area - renamed III Bn./IV Ustasha Brigade.
