XXIII Ustasha Battalion (XXIII. ustaška bojna)

Formed at the end of March or beginning of April 1942 in Tuzla from recruits raised in that area. (1)

1 Oct 42: Bn. deployed along the Drina bend east and southeast of Srebrenica with HQ Co. in Skelani, 1st Co. Klotijevac, 2d Co. Fakovici, 3d Co. Purtici, and 4th Co. Barakovici.
1 Dec 42: as above for 1 Oct 42.
14 Apr 43: Bn. in Skelani with 1st - 4th Co.
May 43: at the end of May 1943 the Battalion was brought up to a strength of 800 by taking 430 men from the other battalions under I Ustasha Brigade and incorporated into the German-Croatian Police, then in formation under SS-Gruppenführer Konstantin Kammerhofer. Departing Sarajevo on 3 June 1943, the
XXIII Ustasha Battalion lost its identity and is not known to have been reestablished.
