Formed summer 1941 in Virovitica. I and II Cavalry Group served mainly as rear area training and replacement formations for the combat-deployed Zagreb Cavalry Regiment. (1)


Operational History

1941-42

Routine training and patrol activity in a quiet area with little Partisan activity. No major action reported.

1943

19 Mar – 2 Apr 43: Group took part in Operation “Braun” in the Papuk Mountains.
25-27 Aug 43: elements participated in Operation “Bilo gora Ost” in the Bilo gora Mountains.
10 Nov 43: the entire Group in a strength of 13 officers, 30 NCOs and 500 men surrendered during a Partisan attack on Virovitica.
Dec 43: Group remnants in a strength of one cavalry troop (platoon) in Virovitica.

1944

Mar 44: Virovitica - had been partially replenished since December and now consisted of one cavalry squadron.
1 Apr 44: incorporated into the Mobile Brigade?
