Formed September - October 1942 with Regiment HQ in Sarajevo. It remained subordinated to Croatian III Corps throughout its existence. (1)


History

Dec 42: two of the Regiment’s companies were employed in the ore mines at Zenica and Kakanj.
Jan 43: I Bn. HQ in Begovina/20 km SE of Sarajevo with its companies working on projects in Pale, Praća and Korana.
20 Jan 43: I Bn. attacked by Chetniks south of Pale and the Bn. commander, Podpukovnik Gojko Borota, was captured.
Aug 44: Rgt. HQ in Sarajevo, I Bn. (1st – 3d Labor Co. and 4th Infantry Co.) in Sarajevo, II. Bn. (5th – 7th Labor Co. and 8th Infantry Co.) in Sarajevo, III Bn. (9th – 11th Labor Co. and 12th Infantry Co.) in Siroki Brijeg/20 km W of Mostar, IV Bn. (13th – 15th Labor Co. and 16th Infantry Co.) in Siroki Brijeg/20 km W of Mostar.
4 Sep 44: the 3d Co. of I Bn. mentioned in captured documents as the 3d Convict Labor Co.
Mar 45: Rgt. HQ still in Sarajevo.
